MES EMEA wiki

Page history last edited by Cevn Vibert 3 years ago

SideBar

The  wiki for MES, MOM, Industrial Information and Manufacturing BI people.

MES is a nebulous concept with industry defined structures, connectivity to enterprise and plant, and a host of Gurus.

MOM is also coming into use recommended by MESA

EMEA is Europe and Middle East and African continents but "outsiders" welcome.

This wiki is aimed at sharing industry knowledge, news, problems, solutions, wisdom, networking and getting together.

MES stood for Manufacturing Execution Systems but has grown into a "concept space" which has been called ERP for manufacturing, middleware software layer, factorywide software systems... It has grown out of MRP (Manufacturing Resopurce Planning), interconnectivity standards and packages developed by end-users and primary software suppliers.

Widespread use and acceptance of ethernet as a general networking medium has also helped to build MES as more of a commodity and less of a magic art.  Efficiency improvements demanded by Lean, 6sigma and similar programs have needed something to manage, monitor, assess and correct any inefficiencies, problems, bottlenecks, etc. and MES has dramtically assisted end-users to achieve and exceed their goals.

If you know what SCADA, Execution Systems, S95, S88, B2MML, OPC, and PLC mean then there should be something for you here.

If you want to know more then we aim to help.

If you are an end-user who seeks assitance then we aim to help.

There are industry standards for definition, connectivity and relationships within software platofrms and hierarchy.

There are industry associations to define, help and promote the field.

This wiki is not for flagrant sales, promotion or marketing but is firmely targeted at sharing and assisting others in the field. Abusers of any kind will be excluded without notice.   Share and Enjoy.  Share and Enjoy.
